Max Sydney Smith was born in 1986 in London. He graduated with an MA in Creative and Life Writing from Goldsmiths University in 2015.
He is the author of the flash fiction pamphlet ‘Without Seeming to Care at All’ (Rough Trade Editions, 2019), the short story ‘Something Less Than Our Best’ (BBC R4 Short Works, 2020) and the novella ‘I, Nerd’ (Open Pen, 2022).
'Without Seeming to Care at All' was longlisted for the Sunday Times Audible Short Story Award 2020.
His short stories have also appeared in a number of literary magazines including Structo, The Stockholm Review and minor literature[s].
He is currently working on a novel. He is represented by Imogen Pelham, at Marjacq literary agency.
